A useful means to dispose of discarded automobile tires has been sought for years", said Max Paul, a co-inventor of the utility pole. Mr. Paul is President and fourth generation owner of Central City Toyota and Paul Bros and added the problem with disposing of used automobile tires goes back to when my grandparents owned repair shops in the early 1900s…and is still a problem today". The problems associated with disposal of used tire carcasses has been well documented. Numerous unsuccessful efforts to discard used tires have left piles of tires in junk yards throughout the country. The major benefits of the new product is primarily in providing a useful byproduct from an unwanted and nearly indestructible waste product", said Jack Kubicky, who helped design the pole and mold in the production of the first prototype.
Other applications of recycled rubber and plastic technologies are being developed" said Charles Nygard, who prepared and successfully prosecuted the patent with the Patent Office in Washington, D.C. Utility poles are outdated and our product will give the utility companies another viable choice for utility pole replacement" said Nygard, and we will be relieving the stress on local dumpsites by recycling unwanted tires and scrap plastic. It is a win-win situation for all". The inventors have secured a manufacturing location and are expected to begin production of the utility poles, as well as other products which include highway guard rails and median barriers in the very near future", according to Mr. Kubicky.
