E-Commerce Certification Helps Solve Global Poverty

Online access to e-commerce certification courses helps provide computer training to the world's poorest young people.

CANBERRA, ACT – 14 June, 2002 – 5ALearning, an online provider of course in computer use, IT certification, E-commerce and business skills development, announced that its e-Commerce Series of courses now lead directly to the certification of Certified E-Commerce Consultant (CEC) of the Institute of Certified E-Commerce Consultants.

The 5As in the 5ALearning service represent: Active learning at your own pace; Anytime you can work towards your goals; Anywhere you access the Web; Attainable skills you need to thrive; Affordable and you help solve poverty. In helping to solve poverty, 5ALearning has partnered with the initiative Global Learning Opportunities on the Web (GLOW). GLOW Centres provide vocational training in computers, IT and business to the poorest young people in the world. For more information, visit www.5alearning.com/5aglow, www.glowcentres.com, and www.orphanIT.com.

The thirteen courses in the CEC program provide over fifty hours of quality, highly interactive training in e-commerce. The program delivers a vendor-neutral e-business skills certification upon completing the courses. The CEC certification is designed to validate and enhance e-competency by providing a fast-track e-commerce certification and credential aimed at job roles integral to the management of
e-business and e-commerce. Such job roles include operations, administration, oversight, leadership, marketing, public relations and supporting e-commerce or e-business related activities. The American E-Commerce Association, several colleges and universities and various associations in the United States, Canada, Asia, Europe and the Middle East recognize the CEC certification. Numerous certification authorities including GOCERTIFY, ITCERTINFO, BRAINBUZZ, CRAMSESSION and others also recognize the CEC certification.

We are excited to add this certification to the wide range of other courses we offer that support those preparing for several globally recognised IT certifications," said Dr Don MacRae, director of Canberra-based e-learning company, APT Business Services Pty Ltd. The courses provide the coverage and depth needed to prepare technical and business professionals for the CEC certification."

As the use of e-Commerce continues to grow additional job roles within the enterprise are affected," said Dr MacRae. The CEC certification provides a path for individuals to gain the in-depth knowledge needed to implement, manage and maintain effective e-commerce practices."

The Institute of Certified E-Commerce Consultants, ICECC, is an association and a Graduate Institute of E-Commerce professionals. The CEC certification is the worldwide e-Commerce and e-Business credential awarded by the CEC Board of Standards. The CEC certification is the global symbol and designation of e-commerce professionalism. Those who have skills in e-management, e-commerce strategy, global e-commerce, and e-commerce and e-business marketing and have at least 2 years of experience and research can earn the right to attain the CEC credential.
