New Publisher Offers Excellent Summer Reading
For The Young Adult Audience
THE LIE THAT BINDS is excellent summer reading!
Southaven, MS - To entertain, enrich, and educate the minds of the young and the
young at heart" is the core of the mission statement for Mississippi-based Jackson
Publishing. When Jackson Publishing released its first novel, THE LIE THAT BINDS,
in January, 2002, the intent was to offer youth a fresh alternative to the negative messages
presented in popular entertainment. However, the book quickly gained an adult audience
as well when parents bought the book and read it before passing it on to their children.
After reading the book, many parents were so impressed with the positive message and the
down-to-earth characters that they not only passed the book on for their children to read
it, but also shared the book with friends, relatives, co-workers, and total strangers.
Word quickly spread about the captivating tale of four teenage boys who succumb to peer
pressure and commit unthinkable acts that lead to both their downfalls and their renewals.
THE LIE THAT BINDS is a murder suspense where the reader knows who did it but
has to keep reading in order to find out how and why. In the meantime, the reader gets an
opportunity to enter the lives and thoughts of four boys whose lives have been touched by
poverty, drugs, alcoholism, domestic violence, and family pressures. The book has also
been used by an AWANA leader who conducted a series of lessons on how family
pressures can affect the lives of children.
I never dreamed that so many middle-graders and teenagers would be seeking me out in
order to get an autographed copy of the book," says Linda Jackson, the author of THE
LIE THAT BINDS. I am simply elated when a teenager comes to me and asks, 'Ms.
Jackson, can I get a copy of your book?" she adds.
When asked about the title, the author stated that the book is intended to show that even
one lie can bind a person to a path of deception, and it is not until one realizes that the
truth is always easier than a lie that the cycle can be broken. Jackson states that through
reader feedback, she has learned that THE LIE THAT BINDS has entertained its
readers, enriched their hearts, and educated their minds, which sums up the mission
statement of Jackson Publishing.
Linda Jackson is a former resident of Kansas City, Missouri, where she enjoyed a career
