Subject: Kelvin Magazine launches June 12
Portland, OR--Kelvin Magazine launches an online arts and entertainment magazine June 12, featuring photography, illustration, comic art, fiction, essays and poetry. The site will spotlight Portland artists among emerging creatives nationwide, and publishers Michelle Burke and Ian Litster want to focus on promoting their contributors.
"Were generating content which will have a broad appeal," says Burke, a former commercial and editorial photographer. We want to promote our artists to their target markets, while simultaneously attracting a general audience to the site."
Among comic art, fiction, poetry and essays, the inaugural issue includes photographers Bob Libby of Fallen Angel Studios, and Sayle Lynn of Sayle Workshop. Libby, a Portland photographer, is building a name for himself creating images for musicians. His dreamlike digital images lean toward the macabre, while his portraits show his inheirent talent for lighting and posing.
Lynns photography is targeted for the fine art print market. A skilled printmaker, Lynns work is often on display at wineries, galleries and festivals in Californias wine country, what she considers to be her extended studio.
The website accepts submissions on an ongoing basis, and is seeking sponsors for its site. Were also hoping to build a body of links to nonprofit organizations and resources of interest to emerging creatives," adds Burke, and theres always an interest for industry-related news."
