THE CLARKS HAVE A HAPPY BEGINNING WITH STRONG FIRST-WEEK SALES
ON NEW RAZOR & TIE CD ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING
NEW YORK -- June 19, 2002 -- The Clarks, already a local phenomenon in their hometown of Pittsburgh, are poised to break through on a national level with the
release of Another Happy Ending, their second CD for New York-based independent label Razor & Tie.
The new CD is the perfect showcase for the bands All-American rock'nroll sound, its well-crafted lyrics and catchy, power-pop melodies. Another Happy Ending
arrived in stores on June 11 and sold nearly 9,000 pieces in its first week of release according to Soundscan, a 54 percent increase over first week sales of the
bands previous CD, Let It Go. The album debuts at No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and No. 143 on the Top 200 chart. The CD ranked No. 1 in sales in
the band's hometown (outselling Eminem, Korn, and New Found Glory in the No. 2, 3 and 4 slots respectively).
This strong debut is due in large part to the success of the band's first single "Hey You," which is receiving substantial airplay on rock radio. The cut logs in this
week at No. 1 on Radio & Records New And Active chart and as the No. 29 most listened to rock song in the country according to BDS/Billboard monitored
airplay. In addition to having top 5 phones at WXDX-FM and WDVE-FM in Pittsburgh, the band has been in regular rotation for weeks at other influential stations
including WEDG-FM (Buffalo), WBUF-FM and WEDG-FM (Buffalo), WCMF-FM (Rochester), Drive105 (Minneapolis), WAQX-FM (Syracuse), and
WPYX-FM (Albany).
The Clarks also receive tremendous support from the bands nationwide network of "Clarks Reps," more than 1,000 dedicated fans who monitor inventory at local
retailers, put up posters in tour markets and host pre-release listening parties.
Cliff Chenfeld, the Managing Director of Razor & Tie remarks, " We are thrilled with the success The Clarks are enjoying. They have worked hard, they have made
a great record and we will do our best to get their music to as many people as possible."
The Clarks, who performed special acoustic sets for 1,500 fans at two recent Pittsburgh in-stores, will tour across the U.S. throughout the summer including two
nights at Pittsburghs 5,000-seat Amphitheater at Station Square on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22. Saturdays show is already sold out while Fridays
performance is expected to sell out by show time. O.A.R. and Howie Day will open those shows. Additional tour dates will include stops in Baltimore-June 27,
Philadelphia - June 30, New York City-June 29, Buffalo-June 30, St. Paul-July 3, Milwaukee-July 5, Cleveland-July 6, Nashville-July 13, and Washington, D.C. at
