TIR AWARDED $3 MILLION IN CONTRACTS ¯ MINNESOTA & LOS ANGLES CHOOSE TIR FOR TUNNEL PROJECTS

Vancouver, BC - TIR Systems Ltd., a leading speciality lighting technology company, today announced that it has received orders of $3 million for the Lowry Hill & Portland tunnels in Minneapolis, MN and Grand Avenue Street underpass in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation and The Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting specified TIRs Tunnel Light Pipe system to re-light their existing tunnels in Minneapolis and underpass in downtown LA respectively. The Light Pipe system was selected over conventional lighting alternatives based on the significant maintenance advantages and exceptional long-term reliability offered by the Light Pipe system while delivering uniform glare free illumination for commuters.

TIR will supply over one mile of the Light Pipe system to Minneapolis. The installation will include 7,040 feet of Light Pipe, 176 metal halide luminaires and 408 Dual Beams to both the Lowry Hill and Portland tunnels. The Company will also re-light the 1200 feet long Grand Avenue Street underpass using 171 metal halide luminaires and 6,840 feet of Light Pipe. The new system will replace the original fluorescent lighting system.

Transportation Authorities throughout North America are considering TIRs lighting solutions to help reduce operational costs as they continue to invest in new infrastructure projects that include tunnels, underpasses, bridges, vehicle service facilities, transit stations and airports.
