ISC Releases SpyProof! Automatic Disk Encryption

The more automated and transparent that encryption becomes, the more likely it is that people will adopt it into their daily work practices," said Tom Venn, ISC President. We feel that SpyProof! is the most readily deployable solution for safeguarding sensitive data and is ideal for mobile executives concerned about the security of information they take on the road," Venn added.

ISC Releases SpyProof! Automatic Disk Encryption
Information Security Corporation (ISC) introduces SpyProof!, an encrypted disk management solution for Windows NT 4.0 (SP6), 2000, or XP. Once a user creates a SpyProof! disk (by allocating a portion of any standard Windows drive), that disk is assigned a new drive letter and appears to the user like any other system drive. As long as the disk is mounted, all data written to it is automatically encrypted using NISTs Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) while data read from it is automatically decrypted. Encryption and decryption take place in an entirely user- and application-transparent manner with virtually no performance penalty. When a SpyProof! disk is unmounted, either manually or by logging out of Windows, the data it contains is completely unreadable.

SpyProof! provides an intuitive graphical interface and convenient system tray menu for the creation and management of portable, virtual disks that provide transparent encryption. Sensitive data remains encrypted on the underlying storage media at all times and is only decrypted when the disk is mounted and a file is read into memory by an application. SpyProof! disks can be configured so that they are automatically mounted when a user logs onto their Windows account and correctly enters their password (or inserts a token and enters their PIN).

A user can place their My Documents" and Temp" folders in a SpyProof! disk in order to secure their own documents as well as the temporary data files created by popular office applications. Designated groups of users can even securely share SpyProof! disks located on a mutually accessible network drive. SpyProof! virtual disks containing documents, movies, music, etc., may be burned onto CDRs or DVD-Rs so that only authorized employees or customers can access the large amounts of sensitive or proprietary data they contain.

SpyProof! provides 128-, 192-, and 256-bit AES in CBC mode for bulk encryption. When a SpyProof! disk is created, its AES key is generated pseudo-randomly in a manner compliant with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 186 and is wrapped with the RSA, DSA, or Elliptic Curve public key from each designated users X.509 certificate following the appropriate ANSI and/or IEEE standards. Disk access requires an authorized users private key stored in: Windows CAPI store, a PIN-protected PKCS#11 hardware token, or a TDES-encrypted SecretAgent PKCS #8 file.

When used in conjunction with ISCs popular, multi-platform file and e-mail encryption utility, SecretAgent, SpyProof! can access existing user profile settings and can use all local, CAPI, and LDAP certificate stores. If SecretAgent is not installed, SpyProof! uses Windows native CAPI module for private key storage, certificate retrieval, and smartcard support.

The single unit price for SpyProof! is $99.95. Quantity discounts and site license pricing are also available. Call Information Security Corporation at (847) 405-0500 for more information and to place orders.
