EnerSys EXPANDS GENESIS NP PRODUCT LINE TO 100 AMPERE-HOURS

EnerSys EXPANDS GENESIS NP PRODUCT LINE TO 100 AMPERE-HOURS

Reading, PA, June 24, 2002 - EnerSys Inc. (formerly Yuasa, Inc.) Reserve Power Group has expanded its Genesis NP line of valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries up to 100 Ah to meet the needs of higher power applications. Genesis NP batteries are ideal for any general-purpose application that requires DC power back up, such as telecommunications, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), or switchgear.

The Genesis NP55-12, NP75-12 and NP100-12 batteries use proven gas recombinant VRLA technology that minimizes gas evolution during charging and discharging, maximizing space utilization by allowing battery installation in cabinets or on stands in a variety of environments, such as computer rooms. The technology also eliminates the need for watering, reducing maintenance costs.

The new Genesis NP batteries are designed for user safety, with a rugged flame retardant ABS plastic case and cover, and separators that completely absorb electrolyte during operation to prevent free acid leakage if the battery case is accidentally damaged. The batteries have UL recognition and meet critical industry standards, including IATA, US DOT, FAA, and CAA certifications for air transport.

In addition to the three models noted previously, the Genesis NP product line includes a wide range of models from 0.8 Ah to 100 Ah. The product line includes application-specific designs for long duration and high rate systems, as well as general-purpose batteries for various electronics applications such as security and emergency lighting.

Nominal capacity for the Genesis NP55-12, NP75-12 and NP100-12 is 50.0 Ah, 70.2 Ah and 80.6 Ah at the 8-hour rate to 10.5 V at room temperature. Each unit has a nominal voltage of 12 V and a float charge voltage of 13.5 - 13.7 V at 77oF (25oC). The batteries come with a choice of different terminals for any application.

Pricing for the Genesis NP series starts at $120. Delivery is 4 weeks ARO.
