eLABS: TELCORDIA INTRODUCES NEW COURSE ON DMS 100 SWITCHING

New Telcordia course on digital switching module enables telecom students to learn via CD.

LISLE, ILL. - July 15, 2002 - Skills-based training in the form of e-learning from Telcordia now covers another subject: the DMS* 100 Family - Spectrum Peripheral Module (SPM). Students of SPM hardware operation and maintenance can now immerse themselves in an instructor-led training session, then move into the lab for exposure to practical application -- and accomplish all of it with a CD called eLabs.

eLabs transforms the student's PC into a high-tech, virtual classroom and lab open for learning all the time. Through a blend of classroom lectures and lab equipment demonstrations, eLabs delivers job-critical, skills-based training in an easy-to-access, self-paced, interactive format. Without traveling or staying away for the job too long, students spend their time in a virtual Telcordia training classroom, learning from technical experts, then visiting a virtual Telcordia training lab for close-up looks at equipment related to their subject.

The main topics in the new eLabs course are SPM hardware overview; SPM hardware operation and MAP levels; SPM hardware tables; SPM translations, trunk testing and turn-up; and SPM tools and troubleshooting. It also features information about SPM interaction with other major components of the DMS family of switches.

After completing the course, students will know how to use Maintenance and Administration Position levels to access SPM components to interpret alarms and status displays. They will also be knowledgeable about hardware tables and trunk translations table datafill requirements. In addition, they will know how to use MAP levels to test and turn up trunks and carriers on an SPM.

The course takes three to four hours to complete. It is intended for maintenance personnel, technical support groups, maintenance engineering groups, centralized translations and maintenance groups, and individuals who are contemplating a career move into switch maintenance.

Students control the pace, topic selections, and lesson sequencing. They also have the ability to review questions, focus extra study, print materials, and create a personalized reference binder.

Various flexible options are available for purchase or licensing. To obtain product details or ordering information, call 1-800-TEACH-ME or visit www.800teachme.com. A brochure about eLabs is also available upon request.
