Centronics Web Systems, a Chandigarh based Company has been appointed as an advisor for Microsoft Corporation, Washington, who is a UDDI Working Group Member.

Centronics Web Systems, a Chandigarh based Company has been appointed as an advisor for Microsoft Corporation, Washington, who is a UDDI Working Group Member.

According to the project plan, initially Centronics Web Systems will keep early drafts, specifications and documents for Microsoft to create specifications for a Universal Discovery, Description, and Integration (UDDI") – The Architecture for Internet E-Commerce. CWSTeam will also provide feedback on such specifications and participate in Advisor meetings from time to time. The agreement was signed by the CEO for Centronics Web Systems Mr Nakul Goyal & for Microsoft Corporation by the Vice President of Marketing Mr Clifford Reeves.

In response to the technological implications and challenges faced for serious business on the Internet, the UDDI initiative emerged. A number of companies, including Microsoft, IBM, Sun, Oracle, Compaq, Hewlett Packard, Intel, SAP, and over three hundred other companies (who signed with Microsoft as Advisors from all over the globe), came together to develop a specification based on open standards and non-proprietary technologies to solve these challenges and Centronics Web Systems is happy to be a part of it and actively participate in the construction of this new corner stone of the future online business.

UDDI has been referred as an industry-wide initiative to support Web Service discovery across technologies and platforms. UDDI is a public registry designed to house information about businesses and their services in a structured way. Through UDDI, one can publish and discover information about a business and its Web Services. This data can be classified using standard taxonomies so that information can be found based on categorization. Most importantly, UDDI contains information about the technical interfaces of a business's services.

The UDDI registry allows one to expose much more than Web Service endpoints and business data. The people using UDDI can also use the interface to find Web Service documentation and samples. Usage of the Microsoft UDDI registry is a free service.
