LibrarySmith software today announced the latest version of ID Shutdown Manager, a suite of remote shutdown and audit network tools aimed at network administrators, educational environments and home users.

Canterbury, UK: LibrarySmith software today announced the latest version of ID Shutdown Manager, a suite of network tools aimed at network administrators, educational environments and home users. The ability to remotely Shutdown, Reboot and Logoff single or multiple computers over a Local Area Network or the Internet is of use in any establishment where doing so manually would be time consuming or even impossible (when off-site for example).

Building on the success of the original release, LibrarySmith Software has implemented user requests for additional features. Adding a multi-user web-browser based interface for general users, Wake on LAN facilities to remotely switch on workstations, comprehensive system auditing to provide an inventory of computer hardware and remote program execution to aid network administration.

The only remote shutdown application to run across all current Windows Operating Systems, ID Shutdown Manager supports Windows 95 OSR1,95 OSR2,98 ,98 SE, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP Home and Professional.

Shutdown Manager makes use of the advanced features of NT based Operating Systems (Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP) to allow remote network installation of the client software across NT platforms, potentially saving Network Administrators hours of installation time. Remote program execution allows Administrators to execute programs as different users as the security context may dictate.

A new command line interface is included to allow Administrators to schedule jobs using Windows Scheduler or other scheduling software.

Unique serialised security is employed to prevent unauthorised parties from actioning remote computers. The Administrator can optionally set user messaging and time-out warnings allowing users to cancel operations if desired.

Comprehensive remote system auditing facilities include the ability to remotely retrieve: Computer-name, IP Address, MAC Address of network card, Operating System and Service Pack, Processor Type, Number of Processors, Physical Memory, Disks Drives and Partition information (including Media Type, Connected Network Drives, Volume Labels and Serial Numbers, Size and Free Space), Display Adapter model, Registered User and Company and the Currently logged in user.
