Award Recognizes Innovation In Communication Over IP Solutions For Government

The Enterprise Networks division of Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc. ("Siemens ICN"), a subsidiary of Siemens AG (NYSE: SI), today announced that it has received the Frost & Sullivan Market Engineering Award for Product Innovation. The award was given to Siemens in recognition of its innovative converged switching solutions for government end-users.

Siemens has clearly demonstrated the ability to develop and advance differentiated products with more innovative capabilities than competing vendors," said Darryl Firth, director of the market engineering awards program at Frost & Sullivan. Such innovation is expected to significantly contribute to the telecommunications industry in terms of product performance and degree and rate of technical change. The evolutionary approach to connecting legacy switching technology with new IP-based technology is just what the industry needs to move towards next-generation services."

Siemens was selected on the basis of research done by a Frost & Sullivan analyst team. The team tracked all new product launches, R&D spending, products in development, and new product features and modifications. Specific criteria included: significance of new products in the industry, competitive advantage of new products in the industry, product innovation in terms of unique or revolutionary technology, product acceptance in the marketplace, new product value-added services provided to customers, and number of competitors with similar products.

Receiving the coveted Frost & Sullivan Product Innovation Award is a true honor," said Joe Licata, president of the Enterprise Networks division at Siemens ICN. It demonstrates to our customers that we have the technology they need to easily transition from todays legacy technologies to tomorrows more efficient, flexible and cost-effective architectures."
