New Temperature Profiling system aids solder system efficiency
SolderStar Neptune, designed and manufactured by Embedded Data Systems Ltd in the UK, is a high quality temperature profiling system aimed specifically at reflow and wave soldering applications.
Designed to help manufacturers who require a reasonably priced, yet comprehensive process setup and monitoring tool, the SolderStar Neptune temperature profiling system is likely to appeal particularly to manufacturers requiring line operators to perform regular profiles, or smaller CEMs with reduced in-house process knowledge.
The low power four- or six-channel Neptune datalogger, which is capable of operating for over 6 months from a pair of coin cells, eliminates problematic and expensive charging systems.
A unique feature is the innovative channel layout, which allows the datalogger to be kept compact 9 x 50 x 200mm ) yet retain standard thermocouple connectors.
With single button operation, a memory lock feature prevents captured data from being erased until it has been safely offloaded to a PC.
Protected by a separate heat shield, the datalogger is able to travel with the PCB being soldered through the process, measuring the temperature profile at specific sites of interest.
The use of 'space age' materials allows the system to cope with all soldering applications including hotter lead free ones.
Supplied complete with Profile Central software - a comprehensive data analysis, process documentation and management tool - the system provides automatic setup by way of preconfigured machine and solder paste libraries.
Gone are the tables of meaningless numbers produced by other systems.
The innovative 'process checker' analyses the resulting profile automatically, extracting all the process parameters required, and displaying them graphically against limits generated from the solder paste specification.
The system provides a simple pass/fail result, bringing any problem parameters to the notice of the user.
The system benefits from a comprehensive user guide and dedicated website with user support forum (www.solderstar.com).
