BLACK JAZZ, PIZZAZZ, AND RAZZMATAZZ SERIES LAUNCHED NATIONWIDE

Author Carole Marsh, who has been writing about African American history and heritage for more then 20 years has just released a great new series of children's books just in time for Black History Month.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga-Did you know that there were black soldiers in the Revolutionary War? In the Civil War? Black cowboys? Successful black pioneer-era businesswomen? Did you know that we wouldnt have fried okra today if black women had not brought okra seeds with them on the slave ships? Did you know that the brilliant man who invented the idea of the blood bank was African American? Author Carole Marsh does, and she wants to teach kids these fun facts, and more!

Gallopade International, publisher of curriculum-based materials and educational books, announces the release of the new series Black Jazz, Pizzazz, and Razzmatazz by celebrated author Carole Marsh.

Marsh has been writing about Black History for 20 years. In this new series she makes Black History studies fun and interactive for students by helping them to learn to appreciate the awesome achievements of African Americans throughout history and today. "I have always tried to create books that keep history from being dry and boring," says Marsh. "There are so many fun and fascinating facts that are often left out of Black History studies that I felt I needed to create something to change that."

Mary Pride, author of "Mary Prides Big Book of Home Learning," gave author Carole Marsh "kudos...for celebrating the diversity of talent in the black community." Pride said Marshs books are balanced "quoting both contented slaves and runaways, success stories and failures...giving you an appetite for further reading, and a deeper understanding of financial and emotional frustration."

According to Gallopade president Michele Yother, "Its amazing what Carole has achieved in writing about the African American experience for young people. First and foremost, she has been fearless in being true to the history and the facts as well as the meaning behind them. She single-handedly has transformed Black Studies for students from dull and boring to amazing and sparkling. These are truly books for readers of all ages and races."

The Black Jazz, Pizzazz, and Razzmatazz series includes 12 new books dedicated to African American studies including: The Big Reproducible Book of African American Activities; Black Heritage Gamebook; Black Trivia: The African American Experience A-Z!; Our Black Heritage Coloring Book; Celebrating Black Heritage: 20 Days of Activities; Reading, Recipes, Parties, Plays & More!; Mini Timeline of Awesome African American Achievements and Events; Lets Quilt Our African American Heritage...& Stuff It Topographically!; The Best Book of Black Biographies; The Color Purple & All That Jazz!: African American Achievements in the Arts; Out of the Mouths of Slaves: African American Oral History; The Kitchen House: How Yesterdays Black Women Created Todays American Foods; and Black Business: African American Entrepreneurs and Their Amazing Success! All of these delightful books work together to create a comprehensive Black Heritage study program.

In 2002, Gallopade International and Carole Marsh were the recipients of the Teachers Choice Award by Learning Magazine. Marsh has also recently written "Meet Shirley Franklin-Mayor of Atlanta!" about the first African American women mayor of a major southern U.S. city.
