Every Church Has Its Saints and Aints--Which Are You?

Gainesville, Florida, January 15, 2003- Amid personal storms and tragedies, some Christians are running away from their problems. Synergy Publishers introduces "Preparing for Battle" by Dr. Pamela Braboy Jackson and Reverend J. J. Wilkins, Jr., an easy-reading manual to take a stand against spiritual forces of evil, temptation and wrong thinking during trials in life. Learn how to confront negative thoughts and recognize weaknesses. "Preparing for Battle" uses colorful battle language, song lyrics and poetry to reveal the secrets of spiritual warfare.

Some Christians are sleepwalking, say the authors, and running away from their problems or denying those problems exist. "Preparing for Battle" is a manual to take a stand against the spiritual forces of evil, temptation and wrong thinking. Learn how to confront negative thinking, recognize weaknesses, find a church and take on leadership roles.

"Preparing for Battle" marches in with a Christian boot camp and basic training to help new Christians. The book then gives tactical exercises for spiritual growth, including how to handle tests of endurance, along with methods for problem solving, character building and using weapons of war.

Every church has its "saints and aints," according to authors Jackson and Wilkins, who explain those aints are only seeking Gods blessings. Saints seek the One who blesses. Some people may be blocking their own blessings. Preparing for Battle shows that praise and worship works wonders as a form of guerilla warfare. Especially recommended for Christians who are hitting a brick wall in their spiritual growth or who feel weary in well doing.

Turn your personal tragedies into triumphs." says Rev. William A. Thurston, Ph.D., Chair, Department of Religion and Philosophy, Shaw University

Pamela Braboy Jackson graduated from Indiana University with a Ph.D. in Sociology. After graduation, she worked for seven years at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. It was during her time in North Carolina that she renewed her faith in Christ and began serving in various church ministries, gaining a valuable perspective of what it means to prepare for spiritual battle. She now serves on the faculty of Indiana University and continues to publish in mainstream areas of medical sociology, focusing on self-esteem, work and family stress and adolescent mental health.

J.J. Wilkins, Jr. is the Senior Pastor of Wake Chapel Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a noted speaker and teacher, receiving numerous awards for his outstanding commitment to community service. Wilkins serves on several boards and associations on a local and national level and is often featured in the media as a goodwill ambassador and community spokesperson. Rev. Wilkins graduated from New Hampshire College, attended Yale Divinity School and received a Masters of Divinity degree from Duke University.
