magic4 accelerates success in Asia through major deal with Compal - a leading Chinese mobile handset manufacturer

magic4, the mobile messaging solutions specialist, has announced that China-based Compal Electronics, one of the world's leading manufacturers of mobile phones, has deployed magic4's Enhanced Messaging Service (EMS) and Multimedia Messaging (MMS) client into Compal's top end mobile products.

London, 10 January, 2003 - magic4, the mobile messaging solutions specialist, has announced that China-based Compal Electronics, one of the world's leading manufacturers of mobile phones, has deployed magic4's Enhanced Messaging Service (EMS) and Multimedia Messaging (MMS) client into Compal's top end mobile products. magic4's EMS and MMS clients form part of its industry standard integrated messaging platform incorporating, MIM, SMS, SyncML and Email.

Compal, headquartered in Taipei, with offices in South Korea, the UK and the US, is one of the region's largest contract equipment manufacturers of notebook computers, monitors and mobile phones for the worlds' major computer and communications companies.

Under the terms of the licence, Compal will offer magic4's advanced EMS Release 5 and MMS client for use in all appropriate products as agreed with magic4.

Henry Lee, Senior Vice President of Compal, said, "Our agreement with magic4 allows us to offer all our customers a much superior quality product containing features and benefits which are critical to the new generation of mobile phone customers. The implementation of the magic4 EMS and MMS client enables our customers to offer their users a much richer experience supporting colour screens, polyphonic ringtones, picture messaging and a host of other enhanced qualities."
