January 2003

Action and adventure collide in Kissimmee, FL for the most explosive spring event of the year when 60 of ProRodeos best athletes compete in the 110th Silver Spurs Rodeo, the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi, February 14-16 in Kissimmee-St. Cloud.

Area fans will be treated to world champion riders and barrel racers, outrageous entertainment by some of the funniest rodeo clowns to enter the ring, and some of the baddest, twist n turnin, hoof-stompin livestock in the country during the three-day competition.

The action kicks off February 14th at 7pm for a star-studded performance of man against beast in the final performance at the Kissimmee Sports Arena at 958 S. Hoagland Boulevard in Kissimmee, Florida prior to the grand opening of the new Osceola Heritage Park (OHP) in October 2003. The $84 million dollar OHP complex hopes to offer a complete representation of the areas heritage and reach out to residents and visitors alike. Osceola Heritage Park will include an 8,300-seat Silver Spurs Arena, a 90,000 square foot exhibition and meeting facility, and the renovated Osceola County Stadium and Sports Complex, the spring training home of the Houston Astros.

Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children 4-12 years old. Tickets for the rodeo can be purchased at the gate, through Ticketmaster at numerous retail outlets including: Gregs Western Wear, Skips Western World, Byrds Western Store, Mod Cowboy, Elis Western Store, Imperial Western Store, Saddle Up Western Store, Way Out West, Wildwood Western, and at the all-new Adventure Center at Gatorland, or online at either www.silverspursrodeo.com or www.ticketmaster.com.

Founded by the Silver Spurs Riding Club in 1944 to promote good horsemanship and good fellowship in Osceola County, the Silver Spurs Rodeo today is one of the most successful rodeos in the country. The event features traditional rodeo competitions such as bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding, calf roping and barrel racing.
Steeped in history and an icon of the areas rich cattle ranching heritage, the Silver Spurs Rodeo has been a signature event in the Kissimmee-St. Cloud area for more than half a century.
