The Web Newsroom's Best of 2002 in Movies
'Road to Perdition' Named Best Film, Sam Mendes for Director
WINSLOW, AZ -- Oscar hopefuls Tom Hanks ("Road to Perdition") and America Ferrera ("Real Women Have Curves") have been chosen by The Web Newsroom as the best actor and actress of 2002. The website's inaugural year-end selections also included for Best Director Sam Mendes ("Road to Perdition"), for Best Animated Feature "Spirited Away" and "Road to Perdition" was named Best Film of the year.
The Web Newsroom also honored the cast of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" as the best acting ensemble, while selecting "Barbershop" as Best Comedy and dishonoring the Ediie Murphy film "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" as the year's biggest flop.
"Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" was chosen as Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy for 2002. The year's biggest box office money-maker "Spider-Man" was chosen as runner-up.
