Not Just Another Non-Profit Organization
The newly formed African Association of Georgia is an innovative non-profit organization. AAAG is an active member of the community it serves.
January 17, 2003-- Atlanta, GA
The African American Association of Georgia (AAAG), newly formed by its President Eric Merriweather of Merriweather & Whitley Design firm is breaking barriers for the minority groups of Atlanta.
The focus of AAAG is to empower people of color with the tools necessary in achieving success in their families, finances, education, spiritual development, business and personal growth by helping one another through talents, skills and knowledge of other people of color" states Merriweather.
No, the AAAG is not just another non-profit organization. The AAAG is staffed with people that have a love for God and a compassion for people, their development as well as the revitalization of existing communities", states JaNohn Bowen, AAAG Treasurer.
Although still in its infancy, the AAAG has gained notoriety and support from some of Atlantas most well know politico such as Senator Zell Miller and Lt. Governor Mark Taylor.
AAAG will make its footprint in Atlanta by becoming a beacon of hope for those who did not acquire success in the past decade, those who are still overcoming the digital divide through 6-week computer courses. The focus will be on understanding each other and each others languages through diversity training and foreign language education.
Senator Mill aptly states, You have embarked on a most worthy journey to enrich the lives of our citizens and I support the goals..."
