Markland Technologies Announces Joining Homeland Security Industry Association Board of Advisors


WASHINGTON, DC. January 17, 2003 - Markland Technologies (OTC:MKLD), (www.marklandtech.com) announced today that it has accepted a position on the Board of Advisors for the Homeland Security Industries Association. The Board Position will allow Markland to lend its expertise regarding deploying technologies within the security infrastructure. The primary areas of the HSIA are Airport Security, Port/Maritime Security, Bioterrorism/Chemical and Nuclear Security, Physical Security/Critical Infrastructure Protection, Information Security, Information Sharing Technology and Best Business Practices.

Ernie Mercier, a technical advisor and consultant to Markland Technologies has agreed to accept the position of Chairman of a newly formed Board of Advisors for Markland Technologies. He is a well-respected industry expert, with past experience including a position as the former Head of Technology Research and Development for US Customs. He will act as the principal liaison with the Homeland Security Industry Association on behalf of Markland.
