Move over NHRA® and Nascar® here comes Nitro Radio Control Drag Racing, the new SPORT of choice
Interest and retail purchasing of Radio Control cars has exploded as a hobby in the US over the past year based on what our kids are doing(such as micro sizers, mini sizers etc). Well, not all things are just for kids, and why not turn this hobby explosion into a competitive sport that is organized for Local and National drag racing events.

Move over NHRA® and Nascar® here comes Nitro Radio Control Drag Racing, the new SPORT of choice
Carrollton, TX - January 18, 2003 - T & M Raceway is the first hobby shop in the US dedicated exclusively to radio control(R/C) drag racing kits, parts and accessories. Since its inception in 1999, T & M Raceway has worked relentlessly to turn the hobby of R/C drag racing into a sport.
In January 2000, Marvin and Tammy Jackson owners of T & M Raceway started an organization called the Nitro Radio Control Drag Association (NRCDA) to promote the sport on a national level. Modeled after the wildly popular National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)®, each race track is 132 feet long which is 1/10th the actual length of a real drag track. The radio control cars are also a 1/10th scale version of the full-size drag cars such as top fuel dragsters, funny cars, pro stocks, etc. Our fastest R/C Top Fuel Dragsters have been clocked at 80 mph with 1.66 seconds elapsed time (e.t.).
At every NRCDA National event, the R/C drag racers must pass a technical inspection to keep the racing fair based on association rules and specifications for each class. Each National is three days long; Day 1- optional for testing and tuning, Day 2 -Qualifying Rounds and Day 3- Eliminations.
Today, the NRCDA holds six National events across the US for racers to compete in a point series for cash and prizes. The 2003 race season begins in February and ends in late October. This year the NRCDA will compete in Florida, California, Texas and Maryland with plans to include more R/C drag tracks as the sport grows.
This sport is great for people of all ages-men, women, fathers and sons, mothers and daughters and even wayward teenagers. It requires a great deal of skill and hands-on work to get an R/C car tuned correctly and the competition is fierce. The NRCDA is seeking corporate sponsors to help build the sport of R/C drag racing.
In March 2003, the hobby shop T & M Raceway will offer the first ready to run dragster kit for people who want to join the sport. This is ground breaking for the hobby industry which has been dominated by on-road and off-road track racing. For more information, visit our websites at www.nrcda.com or www.tmraceway.com.
