Advent Software Ltd. announced today a new HIPAA Transactions testing and validation capability by releasing a packaged test suite for Types 1, 2 and 3 conformance (defined by the WEDI/SNIP white paper on Testing and Certification v.3.0) certification. Advent has spent the last year developing a HIPAA Object Oriented Model (OOM©) for use in their, SXT© Transaction Processors and SXG© Transaction Set Generator. This technology development has been extended to the development of test suites that will reduce the testing, verification and certification efforts through the use of certifiable benchmarks.
This initial test suite is targeted towards vendors and covered entities for self-certification of their translators/transaction processing systems. This test suite can be part of Full Implementation Guide Conformance testing to be conducted by the vendor/covered entity. This package will ensure that basic structure requirements have been met. The test suite has test files that test for the following:

2. Health care Claim (837) - Institutional
3. Health care Claim (837) - Dental
4. Health care Claim Payment/Advice (835)
These Transaction sets form Group 1 as defined by the WEDI/SNIP white paper on Transaction Sequencing (v. 3.0) other releases are scheduled in the near future.
Sanjeev Kulkarni, Chief Technical Officer, Pune, India, stated,"Advents Object Oriented Methodology (OOM), addresses the complex problems of validating and testing HIPAA Transactions generated from the X 12 N Implementation Guides (IGs). The release of the first test suite provides a tool to support formal, objective, repeatable, and reproducible approach to meet the testing and compliance objective of any HIPAA testing phase from simple unit testing to external testing with trading partners."
