Toronto, ww.com major webcam search engine is live
Toronto, Jan. 20th 2003: Ww.com, a new major search engine launched that is targeted specifically at addressing the issues inherent in indexing webcams.
Searching for live webcams on the internet is always difficult because conventional search engines like google take a shotgun approach to data when what's really needed is a look at the content, for instance checking if a source is currently available or not or using geographical information.
TrueTech, makers of the award winning video community camarades.com has launched a new service targeted at users looking for live webcams on the internet. The site offers conventional 'keyword' searching, but also geographic and content based searches.
Jacques Mattheij, CEO of TrueTech Canada Inc.:
This project was born out of the frustration of our users of simply not being 'found' on the internet when using regular search engines.
There have been other projects in the past that have tried to address this issue, but none of them have made it. TrueTech has the backbone necessary to sustain a project of this size, we already successfully run one of the largest webcam communities in the world (camarades.com).
Other search engines for webcams (such as webcamworld and earthcam) are nothing but collections of dead links or hidden links to commercial sites with very little in terms of real content, ww.com takes care of all that in one fell swoop.
TrueTech has offices in Toronto, Canada and IJmuiden, the Netherlands, and is worldwide regarded as one of the pioneers in online video. The company has a history going back to 1995 with being the first to offer consumer webcasting and has been a top player in the field with products and services like TrueTech Webcam and Camarades.com.
