Following the introduction of its mobile payment solution for pre-paid mobile phone subscribers in 2002, Bluefish Technologies and Zaryba can now offer network operators a similarly configured solution for subscribers who pay their bills on a monthly basis. The new application provides the user with the ability to view bills and settle them directly from the handset in real time as well as receive confirmation of successful transactions.
Both solutions provide further convenience and get customers used to paying bills with their mobile device and can be configured for payment of various other bills as well. This is effectively one step away from the m-payment and m-commerce services of the future.
This new post-paid solution is enabled through the SIM using either SIMToolkit or SIM browser technology and presents users with a simple menu driven interface with authentication achieved through a PIN (Personal Identification Number). Payments are made through a direct connection between the banks and clearing houses, the Zaryba transaction server and the network operator's billing system.
To encourage further take up this bill presentation and payment solution is configured to enable network operators to offer incentives to subscribers who choose to pay their bills using their mobile phones.
"In order for the mobile payment market to take off, we believe that all parties involved have to go through a learning curve. It is therefore important to start with straightforward payment applications that make sense to both the mobile operator and the user. In allowing consumers to use their phones to pay their phone bills or for recharging their pre-paid account, an operator takes the first step and gains valuable experience. Subscribers will become familiar with the phone as a payment device, and the mobile operator can then move forward with more advanced m-payment services such as third-party and peer-to-peer payments", explained Geert Hilbrandie, Managing Director Zaryba Ltd
"We are delighted to continue our partnership with Zaryba", said Mark Castle, Business Development Director at Bluefish. "We now have a complete bill payment solution that we can offer to network operators across the world regardless of the market; the Bluefish portfolio of SIM solutions has never been stronger."
