NEW COLLECTORS SERIES LAUNCHES JANUARY 28 AT SWANN AUCTION GALLERIES WITH PRESENTATION BY SWANN PRESIDENT, NICHOLAS LOWRY ON COLLECTING VINTAGE POSTERS FOR FUN, PROFIT AND INVESTMENT

A New Collectors Series begins at Swann Auction Galleries on January 28 with an informal presentation by Nicholas Lowry, President and Director of Posters, on Collecting Vintage Posters for Fun, Profit and Investment: A Guide to the Market for New and Experienced Collectors Alike. On display will be over 400 vintage posters that will be offered at auction on Thursday, January 30. The second event, Picture Currency: Collecting Photographs in the New Millennium, a panel discussion with three distinguished experts, moderated by Daile Kaplan, Vice President and Director of Photographs, will take place on Wednesday, February 5. On display will be 100 Fine Photographs that will be offered at auction on Monday, February 10. A third event, Building a Master Print Collection, organized by Todd Weyman, Vice President and Director of Prints & Drawings, will be held on Tuesday, April 29, in conjunction with a major auction of Old Master through Contemporary Prints. Lowry, Kaplan and Weyman will be familiar to the public from their appearances on the popular television series, The Antiques Roadshow.

A New Collectors Series begins at Swann Auction Galleries on Tuesday, January 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. Nicholas Lowry, President and Director of Posters, will offer an informal presentation on Collecting Vintage Posters for Fun, Profit and Investment: A Guide to the Market for New and Experienced Collectors Alike. On display will be over 400 vintage posters that will be offered at auction on Thursday, January 30.

Based on the enthusiastic response to our September 2002 panel discussion on 'Art as Investment? we are enthusiastically launching a series of presentations and panel discussions related to collecting in the fields of our specialization," said Lowry.

The second event, Picture Currency: Collecting Photographs in the New Millennium, moderated by Daile Kaplan, Vice President and Director of Photographs, will take place on Wednesday, February 5. A distinguished panel of speakers includes Vince Aletti, Art Editor, The Village Voice; Brian Wallis, Chief Curator, International Center of Photography; and Therese Mulligan, Curator of Photography, George Eastman House, International Museum of Photography and Film. On display will be 100 Fine Photographs that will be offered at auction on Monday, February 10.

A third event, Building a Master Print Collection, organized by Todd Weyman, Vice President and Director of Prints & Drawings, will be held on Tuesday, April 29, in conjunction with a major auction of Old Master through Contemporary Prints.

Lowry, Kaplan and Weyman will be familiar to the public from their appearances on the popular television series, The Antiques Roadshow.
