Quintum Announces Service Provider Version of Its Innovative Multi-Network Portal" for VoIP

Tenor Call Relay SP supplements smaller Call Relay to eliminate repeated compressions and decompressions of voice traffic

Quintum Technologies, a leading innovator in VoIP technology, today announced the availability of its high capacity Tenor Call Relay SP, for service providers. This new product supports up to 720 simultaneous VoIP calls and supplements the current Call Relay that supports up to 32 simultaneous calls.

Tenor Call Relay allows service providers and enterprises to take advantage of private and shared IP networks which are behind a network address translation firewalls to route VoIP calls to external IP networks. The Tenor Call Relay VoIP Portal supports VoIP calls among VoIP endpoints including gateways, IP phones and IP soft phones. By providing direct connectivity between VoIP networks, Tenor Call Relay SP eliminates compression/decompression cycles -- thereby improving the speed and quality of VoIP transmission.

Tenor Call Relay further simplifies the movement of VoIP traffic across networks through switching intelligence that allows H.323 traffic to be passed through network address translation (NAT) servers and NAT firewalls. Using Quintums unique PacketSaver technology, the Tenor Call Relay also reduces VoIP bandwidth consumption by multiplexing multiple calls into shared packets. This multiplexing can cut overall bandwidth utilization by up to 57%.

Quintums Tenor Call Relay SP offers service providers a high capacity IP to IP switching solution," says Chuck Rutledge, Vice President of Marketing for Quintum. The Call Relay SP lets service providers efficiently exchange VoIP traffic with other VoIP service providers and IP local access customers."

The standard Tenor Call Relay is currently available and list price starts at $2,000. Tenor Call Relay SP will be available in February, 2003 through Quintums channel and reseller partners. Suggested retail price starts at $10,000.
