Quirk, Inc. expands with a new video to DVD service within their Archive Imaging center.

Netcong, New Jersey, January 24th, 2003:
Quirk, Inc. continues to expand its ever-growing family of services and they are now converting VHS format tapes to DVDs. According to Bill Butler, Quirks Imaging Department Manager, VHS tapes have a shelf life of less than two to three years before they begin to deteriorate. If youve got tapes that are important for long term storage this conversion is not a luxury, its a necessity." VHS tapes are subject to damage from heat, moisture and general wear. At one time or another everyone has wrestled with a tape that has been eaten" by the tape player. Usually that tape is ruined.

The transfer is done in the same fashion that movie DVDs are done, with chapter indexing, titles and thumbnails.

The conversion to DVD adds up to one hundred years to the life of your recording." says Kevin Quirk The difference between DVD and tape is that the data on a DVD is actually imbedded, or burned, into the disk whereas with a tape its stored ON the tape" Quirk caters to everyone from pharmaceutical companies to manufacturers and security firms. Any company that has long term storage requirements of test results, interviews or manufacturing procedures should seriously look at their tapes and convert them to DVD. Anything less is playing Russian Roulette with very important data." according to Kevin Quirk. Conversion is very inexpensive and well worth the small investment to protect your data.
