LOS ANGELES, CA (January 24, 2003) -- MARISA RAMIREZ soars to primetime in the hotly anticipated mid-season ABC drama MIRACLES.
MIRACLES also stars SKEET ULRICH, ANGUS MACFADYEN and HECTOR ELIZONDO. Ramirez plays the female lead, Evelyn Santos," an ex-cop who has dedicated her life to the investigation of alleged miracles after being shot in the head - and living to tell about it. Ulrich plays Paul Callan," a Vatican investigator of modern miracles. After becoming disillusioned with his job, Callan stumbles upon a secret organization led by "Keel" (MacFadyen) and a journey that will change his life. Along the way, Callan still seeks advice from his mentor, "Father Calero," played by veteran actor Elizondo.
Ramirez is thrilled to be a part of this unique show. She also finds herself the only woman in a virtually all-male cast. It is a fact she takes in stride.
They tease me a lot, and thats to be expected, but I handle myself pretty well. I keep them in their place. I think they might be a little scared of me. Theyve never met anyone from East L.A., and I told them Ive been kickboxing for five years!"
Ramirez is best known to television audiences as GENERAL HOSPITALs spirited Gia," a role that garnered her a 2001 NAACP Image Award®. The young beauty began her career as an international model, traveling the world. Returning to the United States, Ramirez pursued acting and was soon tapped to host MTVs SENSELESS ACTS OF VIDEO. After guest starring on several television series, she joined the cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL in 2000. Ramirez left the show in November 2002 after landing her role on MIRACLES.
