The Human Cost of War: Prolific Author Releases World War II Biography
January 24, 2003 - Nina M. Osier announced the release of her sixteenth book, "Love, Jimmy: A Maine Veteran's Longest Battle".
From the preface: He was born on August 26, 1921. He died on July 13, 2001, just a few weeks short of his 80th birthday. He was my father, and this is his story. Even today, when we hear a constant litany of public health announcements and pharmaceutical company advertisements urging people with mental health issues to "Get help! Now!", talking about a loved one's challenges can cause others to look pained and change the subject. Back when Private First Class James E. Osier realized something bad was happening to him in the course of his World War II Army service, it wasn't spoken about at all. He didn't know that his life's toughest battle was just beginning, or that he would be fighting it for the next six decades.
Author Nina M. Osier says: "More than once my dad told me, 'I think people would rather I'd been killed in the war. Then they could call me a fallen hero, and they wouldn't have to deal with what that war did to me. I think they'd like that, because it would sure make things easier for them.'"
Long after any war ends, those who fought in it and lived on afterward continue to pay its price. So do their families. If you want to know what your freedom and mine cost one brave man, not in a moment of battlefield glory but through all the 60 years after "his" war began, then this book is for you.
Love, Jimmy: A Maine Veteran's Longest Battle is Nina M. Osier's sixteenth book. Her work has been nominated for the 2000 Frankfort eBook Award, and has earned favorable reviews from such noted sources as Detra Fitch (Huntress Book Reviews), David Brown (Rebecca's Reads), and Scribes World (where her science fiction novel Rough Rider-Adventure Books, 2000-garnered the coveted Reviewers Choice Award).
Love, Jimmy: A Maine Veteran's Longest Battle - ISBN 0595264840 - published January 2003 by iUniverse - $14.95 U.S. Available from Ingram Book Group, Baker & Taylor, and from iUniverse, Inc.
