FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 24, 2003) -- Journalist and author GEORGE ALEXANDERs collection of interviews takes us on an amazing journey behind the camera and into the creative minds of over thirty noted black filmmakers.
Interviews with box office heavy hitters, pioneers and scholars like JOHN SINGLETON, SPIKE LEE, FOREST WHITAKER, GORDON PARKS, MELVIN VAN PEEBLES, WILLIAM GREAVES, ROBERT TOWNSEND, KEENEN IVORY WAYANS, JULIE DASH, KASI LEMMONS and CARL FRANKLIN give us rare insight into what motivates these extraordinary men and women.
As George says, My meetings with each filmmaker were like a master class, with the erudite teacher instructing the humble and eager student. I entered this theater with respectable knowledge of cinema, and as I continue to journey with this project I realize that my trip has only just begun; theres much more exhilarating learning and living to do."
A native of Mobile, Alabama, George earned a business degree from Morehouse College and an MBA from Columbia University. Before becoming a journalist, George served as Vice President, Credit America for Westpac Banking Corporation in New York City.
His articles have appeared in Variety, Forbes, Black Enterprise and Savoy among others.
This is his first book.
We are booking television, print, radio and Web interviews with the author and several of the filmmakers. Please contact us for consideration.
