CLASS LEADING CRANE STABILITY PROMISES BETTER LOAD STABILITY AND SAFETY

Higher safety, productivity and load stability are sought by every crane operator. Street Crane have now unveiled the latest advance in precision crane control the XY-Zero load stability system. The company will offer this affordable option to new clients in engineering and aerospace and users of the 11,000 Street cranes already operating in the UK. It can also retro fit the system to other makes of crane. Street are offering a free payback analysis to prove the cost effectiveness of the system.

Street's managing director, Andrew Pimblet explained, "XY-Zero provides the highest degree of automated stability control. It contributes to better reliability and lower maintenance as the motors, gearboxes, crane beams and building structures are subject to lower dynamic loads. Energy savings also arise and product damage due to harsh handling will also be eliminated." In trials the system has been shown to increase crane productivity by as much as 30 percent. The operator has no need for movements to correct load swing. This gives the user more time to concentrate on load delivery and significantly reduces operator stress and fatigue.

Already extensively tested and proven by Street, both in their own premises and in exacting field trials, XY-Zero is exciting wide industry interest. Virgin Airways and Toyota are just two users who have placed orders for the new system.

Implementation of the system is simple as the XY-Zero software is integrated into the inverter drive system, overcoming the cost and complexity of PLC control. The system provides a low-cost gateway to the automation of routine crane movements like the avoidance of designated areas or the delivery of product to particular locations. In repetition manufacturing XY-Zero makes it possible to totally automate the process.

Users who wish to see XY-Zero in action can log onto the Street web site www.streetcrane.co.uk to see a video of a system in a demanding environment. Alternatively, the same clip is available on CD-ROM.

XY-Zero is the result of an exclusive agreement with Innocrane of Finland and is based on their proven ICRAS crane stability system. Street Crane will be the only UK based supplier to use this technology. "Commercially this is a very important agreement for Innocrane," commented ICRAS inventor Kimmo Hytonnen. He added, "The deal is mutually beneficial for both companies, strengthening Streets position as technical innovators and giving Innocrane access to a large market with the assurance that our product will be fully supported by the UK's largest volume EOTC producer."
