Webcaster Alliance and U.S. Based Webcasters Say - WE NEED AIRR
Webcaster Alliance members today announced their 2003 campaign initiatives, and they are starting with a little AIRR.
The AIRR (American Internet Radio Revolution) campaign is designed to focus on the issues affecting everyone interested in streaming media, including Internet Radio listeners.
| | - wanted to develop a campaign that would reflect our mood and goals for 2003," says George Bundy, CEO of BRS Media and Webcaster Alliance Secretary. "It is important for us to create campaign that will play well for all of our members, which include terrestrial radio stations and non-commercials as well as Internet-only broadcasters."
|
| | - campaign goals include gathering signatures on the Webcaster Alliance Unity Letter (http://www.webcasteralliance.com/petition.php); educating listeners and legislators on the challenges and issues still currently facing webcasters today, and working toward CARP and the CARP reform process for 2003.
|
"For the first time since BRS Media began tracking Internet Radio back in 1995, US based stations now represent less than fifty percent of the stations webcasting online and in the last year alone well over one thousand US stations have quit broadcasting online," Bundy stated.
| | - Gabriel, President of Webcaster Alliance added, "It is time for webcasters, technology providers and Internet Radio listeners alike to stand together and begin addressing the real issues involved with broadcasting on the Internet today. Now is the time to press for positive changes that will carry our industry forward into a viable, healthy environment."
|
Gabriel concluded by saying, "We are telling our members, their listeners and our support services providers to 'Let the Revolution' begin and will be providing support for the campaign through a series of banner advertisements, PSA's and the Webcaster Alliance Unity Letter. We invite everyone who cares about streaming media and the future of Internet Radio in the United States to get involved in the American Internet Radio Revolution."
