Texas Health Resources Selects Medversant's WebCVO.

Medversant's WebCVO will be used by Texas Health Resources' sixteen facilities to automate its credentialing medical staff management processes. WebCVO is the first Web based credentialing solution offered in the US. The system is being selected by a growing number of prominent health care organizations as a result of the increasing risk of liability for negligent credentialing.

Texas Health Resources (THR), one of the largest faith based, nonprofit health care delivery systems in the United States has selected WebCVO 3.0 as its medical staff management solution. With sixteen facilities, the system serves more than 5.4 million people living in 29 counties in north central Texas. THR was formed in 1997 with the merger of Fort Worth based Harris Methodist Health System, Dallas Presbyterian Healthcare Resources and Arlington Memorial Hospital.

Medversant Technologies' recently launched WebCVO is quickly redefining the standard for credentialing in healthcare. Literally a matter of life and death, the credentialing and screening of physicians is mandated for all licensed medical organizations. The financial risks and potential liability for negligence in this area can be devastating. It is estimated that each year about 2,000 physicians are the subject of state medical board disciplinary actions on such grounds as gross negligence, incompetence, sexual abuse, moral unfitness, fraud, professional misconduct, practicing while impaired or failure to disclose a prior state disciplinary action. In addition, fraudulent claims concerning qualifications and licenses are not uncommon. Liability even extends to nurse practitioners in an outpatient setting.

Recently, the Court of Appeals in Georgia held a hospital system liable for the negligent credentialing of a nurse practitioner whose license had expired at the time of the negligent act.

What makes WebCVO so special? The system cost effectively centralizes the entire medical staff management process across a multi facility healthcare organization. In addition, WebCVO delivers on the promise of "continuous" electronic verification of credentials. Through WebCVO, a hospital system can conduct continual background checks on its staff through a sophisticated electronic database and archiving technology. Information is up to date and accessible by any facility in a chain of hospitals or across a panel of providers. The system, the result of years of research and development, is a complete operating environment for handling the myriad issues in the credentialing of healthcare providers. Matthew Haddad, CEO of Medversant credits his company's direct experience in credentialing practitioners
for the sophistication of the WebCVO system, "In order to build the ultimate credentialing system it was important to know what the hospital staff goes through to credential a physician...we started our own NCQA certified CVO Credentialing Verification Organization) which then became the framework for the development of the application."

It would seem that Medversant has got it right. Within months of its launch, several prominent health systems have moved to implement WebCVO, including Baylor Health System, one of the nation's oldest healthcare institutions and Alliance Imaging (NYSE-AIQ), which operates more than 400 magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems for hospitals and other healthcare providers in nearly 45 states. This year many other large health systems are slated to implement WebCVO including, Tenet Health System, HealthSouth and Pacificare.

Headquartered in Woodland Hills, California, Medversant is a leading provider of medical staff management solutions as well as other Web based business applications. The company can be found on the Web at www.medversant.com.
