SecureAttachment launches its Microsoft Outlook Plug-in at the .NET Convention
Heysel Brussels, Microsoft .NET Convention, January 30th 2003 -- SecureAttachment, Europes leading provider of Secure Document Distribution services, launches its Outlook Plug-in -- a new interface for its DRM services built on Microsoft® .NET framework technology.
SecureAttachment offers companies an easy way to manage and control the distribution chain of digital documents. It effectively prevents unauthorized forwarding of electronic documents, and allows specifying exactly how the recipients can use the document: allow or disallow printing and copying, set expiration date and/or time.
The SecureAttachment .NET Web Services allow our customers and integrators to easily access our servers from various platforms worldwide. SecureAttachment was designed with a wide range of customers in mind -- large and small companies, companies that prefer outsourcing and those that prefer in-house installations. SecureAttachment can be accessed either via a website, web service or a Microsoft Outlook Plug-in.
The SecureAttachment Microsoft Outlook Plug-in adds an extra toolbar to Outlook, which allows sending DRM-secured messages, as easily as sending 'regular e-mail messages.
SecureAttachment converts on the fly the original documents from all Microsoft Office formats (DOC, PPT, XLS), as well as the non-secured PDF, TXT, RTF, PS and EPS formats, into the secured PDF format. This converted copy is encrypted and stored on the SecureAttachment server. At the same time, a message with a single-use hyperlink is sent to the intended recipient(s). On the reader end, SecureAttachment requires Adobe Acrobat Reader or eBook Reader -- the software that is already installed on millions of desktops.
The solutions developed and sold by SecureAttachment, one of the early .NET adopters, are perfect examples of how XML-Web Services open up the communication barriers between organizations. SecureAttachment's Outlook Plug-in adds some very innovative features to the rich base functionality of Exchange. SecureAttachment solutions add support for protecting intellectual property rights to document distribution, fully integrated with Microsoft's standard productivity suite," says Frank Bastien, .NET ISV Manager Microsoft Belux.
Thanks to the .NET and the SecureAttachment Outlook Plug-in, companies worldwide can easily and cost-effectively exchange securely confidential and valuable documents right from their desktops", adds Anthony Belpaire, CEO SecureAttachment.
