Intrusion Prevention software achieves 100% record in preventing propagation of malicious worm

The SQL Worm, which was first reported January 25th, is self-propagating malicious code that exploits known vulnerabilities in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft Desktop Engine (MSDE) 2000.

While the worm itself is not destructive to the infected host, networks not protected by Reflex Interceptors Intrusion Prevention System have experienced damaging levels of network traffic as the worm scans for additional targets. The worm scans random IP addresses for vulnerable servers. Several major national ISPs experienced severe latency or were completely unreachable for a period of time.
