LEGENDARY BASSIST TONY LEVIN RECEIVES GRAMMY NOMINATION

Premier bassist Tony Levin has received a Best Rock Instrumental Grammy Nomination for the track "Apollo" from his second solo album "Pieces of the Sun". The record was released on the new age label Narada in March 2002. But don't let the label's mellow reputation fool you, "Pieces of the Sun" ROCKS!!

"Pieces of the Sun" has met with much critical acclaim - New World Buzz writes: "An eclectic mix of tunes, contemporary instrumental, and soundscapes of galactic proportion"; Music Street Journal says: "musically strong, artistically driven"; and Chad Hutchinson of Ghostland writes: "An exciting, multifaceted collection of well-crafted compositions. I cannot recommend this album enough."

This eponymous effort features his ex-Peter Gabriel band mates Jerry Marotta on drums and Larry Fast on synthesizers (Fast also records electronic music under the name Synergy) and guitarist Jesse Gress who has done spectacular work with Todd Rundgren.

After three and a half decades of playing bass with everyone from Paul Simon and John Lennon to Peter Gabriel and King Crimson, contributing to hundreds of recordings and almost as many tours, Levin made the decision to go solo in 2000. Though Levin continues to work with other musicians, the recognition for his solo work is just reward for his life-long musical legacy. What makes the nomination so special is the fact that though Levin has performed on many Grammy nominated songs in the past, this is the first time he's received a nomination of his own.
