The Training Institute for Leadership Enrichment (TILE) an Oakland-based independent 501(c) (3) organization provides the Bay Area with the opportunity to develop a new and necessary generation of future civic, political, community and businesswomen leaders.
The Institute offers a myriad of leadership programs throughout 2003 including leadership training and political empowerment workshops, a speaker series, its premier annual 3-part certificate program Leadership University," and a biennial leadership empowerment conference.
Unlike any other leadership development and training programs, TILE operates from a philosophy that champions the current and historical achievements of African American women. The Institute emphasizes sisterhood, perseverance, and cultural identity drawing on the rich history of African American women leaders and the unique realms within which they exercised leadership.
More women, particularly, African American women, need to be included within the top ranks of corporate executive leadership, and at all levels of elected and appointed political leadership.
TILE believes that in order for the African American community, and African American women in particular, to thrive, potential leaders must be identified and provided with the skills and tools of sustainable leadership.
Without their participation the much-touted "inclusive decision-making" model is a vision at best. TILE is committed to training and supporting women as civic, political, community and business leaders.
