Work by Bay Area Artist Jenny Balisle
Wins Place in International Exhibition in New York
"Bucket of Paint=Trouble," a pen and ink drawing, by artist Jenny Balisle of Concord, CA, has been selected for inclusion in the annual international juried exhibition "Abstraction 2003" at The Stage Gallery in Merrick, New York. The juror and guest curator for "Abstraction 2003" is the New York Times Art Critic, Phyllis Braff.
Jenny Balisles selection for this event was especially significant since this piece was one of only 28 works selected from among thousands of slide entries from throughout the world. The exhibition displays realistic and/or imaginary or abstract works in all media, including oils, watercolors, prints, mixed media pieces, wall sculptures, and photography.
The exhibition will run through February 23. An artists reception open to the public will be held on that day from 6-8PM. The gallery is located in the The Stage Theater building at 2222 Hewlett Avenue in Merrick, with its entrance on Sunrise Highway directly beneath the Merrick Long Island Railroad Station, about 35 minutes from Manhattan. It is easily accessible from all major metropolitan area highways, has ample parking, and is handicapped-accessible. For further information call the gallery at 516 797 9115.
