Evanston Celebrates Music of Warren Zevon
Chicago rock royalty, national and international singers and musicians gather play the songs of Warren Zevon. Zevon, recently diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, is the critically acclaimed singer of songs like Werewolves of London.
(PRWEB) February 11, 2003 - An all-star roster of musicians and singers will come together on Thursday and Friday, March 27 & 28, 2003 at Nevins Live (1450 N. Sherman Ave.) in Evanston, Illinois to celebrate the music of Warren Zevon, one of rock and rolls most respected and musicians and singer-songwriters.
Perhaps best known for his 1978 hit, Werewolves of London, Warren Zevon, has long been a favorite among critics and his fellow musicians. In the mid 1980s he teamed up with members of REM to record his hit record, Sentimental Hygiene. He has collaborated with dozens of rock legends including Neil Young, Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, The Eagles, and Jackson Browne. For the past several years he was a regular stand in for Paul Schaeffer on Late Night with David Letterman. His offbeat sense of humor combined with his genuine and honest presentation has led many critics to highlight him above many of his contemporaries.
In September of 2002, Mr. Zevon announced he is suffering from inoperable lung cancer. The announcement prompted David Letterman to devote his entire October 30 show to Mr. Zevon who spoke about his illness with uncommon wit and performed three lesser-known but beautiful songs.
His influence on new and not so new musicians will certainly be felt over this two-day celebration. Many of Chicagos rock royalty will be participating as well as national and internationally known musicians.
