NETDESPATCH EXPAND THEIR MOBILE INTERNET SOLUTIONS WITH NEW GRAPEVINE SERVICE

TRANSCOMM SIGNS UP NETDESPATCH THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE(TM)

LONDON, 10th February, 2003 - NetDespatch has become the first Partner of Transcomm plc in the Courier market for Grapevine(TM), the recently launched mobile Internet and e-mail service from Transcomm, a leading wireless data network operator. NetDespatch, which offers a range of unique Web-based application services for transport companies, including couriers, taxis, service logistics and express parcel organisations, will be using the Grapevine Wireless Personal Digital Assistant (WDA) to provide live, 'always-on' wireless Web and e-mail access as part of its solutions.

This new partnership will provide transport companies with a mobile technology solution which is easy to integrate with existing management systems and applications. Combining the functionality of the NetDespatch applications with the reliability of the 'always on Grapevine Service will enable transport field workers to access job and status information directly, and in real-time, from central computer systems.

Transcomms Grapevine is the first wireless PDA (WDA) device to offer full office e-mail on-the-move and WAP Internet access, with 'WAP push message facilities to deliver information automatically to the WDA. The end-user receives mail automatically, unlike GSM/GPRS mobile networks where the end-user must first establish a connection to the host computer to see if there are messages to be downloaded. The Grapevine WDA has a built-in radio modem as standard yet is still small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. And with outstanding battery life of four days or more it provides the end user with great mobility whilst keeping them in touch at all times.

Using Transcomms 'always-on network, additional services available from NetDespatch include instant Internet access to collection and delivery orders which are sent to, and updated from, Grapevine devices.    Custom applications, including electronic Proof of Delivery (POD) signatures, can be developed to meet individual customer requirements.

"Grapevine is a very important development as it offers e-mail and full Internet access for anyone on the move. Although a useful management tool in its own right, for transport companies it provides a great deal more. With instant, always-on, access to the NetDespatch Web servers it offers an 'out of the box solution for updating delivery status and customer enquiries - all from a single handy WDA" says Becky Clark, Business Development Director of NetDespatch.

Adrian Noad, marketing director at Transcomm UK commented, "We are extremely pleased to welcome NetDespatch as a Transcomm Partner to meet the requirements of many transport companies that are seeking to provide field service employees with instant access to up-to-date job and status information. NetDespatch is an ideal partner for Transcomm as its philosophy mirrors that of Grapevine, enabling customers to benefit from wireless technologies without the need for complicated and costly systems integration. With NetDespatch, Grapevine offers a complete mobile dispatch and live delivery tracking solution, off-the-shelf and at a very affordable fixed monthly fee."
