Masternaut first to offer continuous fleet monitoring using GPRS

Masternaut (www.masternaut.co.uk) has launched the UK's first fleet information service to provide continuous tracking of vehicles via the web using GPRS mobile communications.

Masternaut (www.masternaut.co.uk) has launched the UK's first fleet information service to provide continuous tracking of vehicles via the web using GPRS mobile communications. Working completely automatically, Masternaut links to satellite navigation, electronic driver ID and tachographs, providing real time information on vehicle movements and driver activity.

Masternaut is offering the new service, giving live positions every 30 seconds, as a fixed monthly fee for around UK2 per vehicle per day, with no hidden charges. The frequent updates from vehicles are free so the cost of continuous tracking is significantly reduced. The new service will be of particular value to companies who can improve service and productivity by always knowing the location of their vehicles and personnel.

Masternaut is a fully managed service that delivers exactly the information needed in a convenient and easy-to-use way through any PC with Internet connection. Masternaut also provides messaging, in-cab navigation and can send drivers journey plans and real time traffic reports. The service also includes daily, weekly and monthly e-mail reports with time sheets actual fleet utilisation and service performance.

Masternaut's original GSM web-based information service is already highly successful throughout Europe. France and the UK will be the first to benefit from the new GPRS service, which is the result of an exclusive business partnership with mobile network operator Orange.

"Masternaut is the first to offer GPRS-based continuous tracking via the Web. For the first time, many businesses will be able to benefit from live fleet information through a truly affordable service. Everything is automatic so companies do not need to worry about keeping the system running as it is all done for them. All that is required is a PC to access the Web and receive the e-mail reports" says Martin Port, Managing Director of Masternaut in the UK.
