Will Enhance Speed And Performance In Managing Voice Files Over the Network/Internet for Users of Dictaphones Speech Recognition Technology.
San Diego, CA-February 10, 2003-Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, 2003 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition--Dictaphone Corporation Healthcare Solutions Group and Vianix, a leading edge voice compression technology company, today announced a multi-year software licensing agreement. This technology when used within Dictaphones speech recognition and technology will significantly speed the exchange of digital voice files over the network and Internet. This will significantly enhance users experiences interacting with these systems via Physician workstations and mobile dictation devices in a client-server environment, while significantly reducing storage and networking requirements.
Vianixs Managed Audio Sound Compression (MASC) Technology offers extremely high compression levels for storing and transmitting digital voice data while retaining a level of quality that is lost when using existing techniques.
Current digital voice recording technologies require higher amounts of memory to store voice of acceptable quality. MASC drastically reduces the memory requirements while maintaining voice high quality levels needed for speech recognition. Vianixs MASC Technology encodes voice using approximately 4,700 bits, opposed to 64,000 bits per second of recording time typically needed to achieve recognition quality" audio. This compression capability results in 13 times less data while maintaining toll grade" voice quality. Vianix indicates that no other technology today can match MASCs voice quality at such low data rates or provide comparable cost and bandwidth savings.
MASC has attracted interest for a wide variety of applications such as voice data storage, telephony, voice-over-IP, and internet-based audio streaming.
Vianixs compression MASC Technology will speed the performance of Dictaphone systems, as we increasingly are exchanging voice files between our systems and a variety of user workstation and mobile devises over the network and Internet," said Don Fallati, senior vice president, marketing & strategic planning, Dictaphone Corporation. This will make it easier to move voice across the enterprise and to remote workers, while significantly reducing storage and networking requirements."
Reza Hashampour, President and CEO of Vianix, said this agreement will enable Vianix, through its MASC technology, to bring significant efficiency gains to Dictaphones nationwide communications network and represents the beginning of a strong relationship for Vianix".
