After years of writing for many of todays most popular publications including The Source, XXL and King Magazine, city of Poughkeepsie resident Benjamin Moody is preparing to launch his own, Urban Magazine.
Its been a bittersweet experience" explains the 32 year old entrepreneur who was welcomed into the publishing business by millionaire publisher John Blassingame (Todays Black Men), I want to show my peers as well as the local youth that the world is full of opportunities. Many of our inspiring youth need to see positive within their own community."
Though Urban has already become a successful online media outlet, Moody know the transition to print will be a difficult one in spite of the tremendous support he is receiving from the entertainment industry. Unlike many upstart magazines, Urban will be a 100 page full color nationally distributed urban entertainment publication whose quality will rival the most established books on newsstands today.
The hardest thing has been hiring the right people. I originally planned to launch in November, but now that I have the best people involved, Urban will be on newsstands spring/summer of 2003" he says with a smile.
