Storage Guardian announces release of cost effective LAN Discovery Tool for Optimized LAN discovery and data management

Storage Guardian, a leader in secure managed remote data backup and restoration services, is introducing a new LAN Discovery Tool (LTD) for IT consultants, service providers and LAN administrators.

TORONTO, Feb. 10 /CNW/ - Storage Guardian, a leader in secure managed remote data backup and restoration services, is introducing a new LAN
Discovery Tool (LTD) for IT consultants, service providers and LAN administrators. The tool provides inexpensive network access to expose active and inactive data during LAN assessments. It is a powerful tool for justifying storage or server recommendations, simplified and dramatically less expensive than other solutions at $299.00 per assessment or $2000.00 for an annual license. StorGuard's LTD compiles reports of its activities and is valuable to reduce back up windows, data on data servers, disk arrays, and use over load abuse. Clients using LTD have experienced a 30% reduction in inactive data
from existing infrastructure.

The StorGuard LAN Discovery Tool maximizes data resources and is a cost-effective, scalable, easily implemented solution for optimized LAN
discovery and data management. It identifies and reports relevant information about data before it is necessary to spend the time and resources to back it up. The scalable LDT discovers the unique characteristics of primary (existing) data, and creates a number of customized reports presenting
information on file size, ownership and residency within the company, duplicated data and modification statistics. They are accessible in multiple formats, including HTML, Microsoft Excel or plain text.

"We are excited by this product as it enables users to take complete control of data while lowering the cost of managing the data on servers with the StorGuard LDT," said Omry Farajun, Storage Guardian's Channel Manager. "It's a flexible data analysis tool providing a comprehensive picture of data that will allow managers to make important business decisions and respond rapidly to market".

Farajun also stated: "Its other key benefits include more accurately predicting future data trends, reducing the overall amount of storage that is managed, investigating storage abuse, eliminating unnecessary data storage, identifying data duplication, and driving data management costs down. The LDT will assist in purging important data for archiving on lower cost media. Why
would you want to have inactive data taking up space on expensive high I/O disk arrays? The tool will quickly make these assessments and enable you to move such data on to lower cost storage media such as tape. It is like Spring-cleaning for inactive and dormant data sitting on Exchange servers, for example. They are amazed at what they find."
