IN REMEMBRANCE OF PUN
New York --In observance of the third anniversary of the loss of celebrated Latino rapper Christopher Rios a/k/a Big Punisher (Big Pun) the New York State Assembly has passed a legislative resolution commemorating his life and musical accomplishments as well as the naming of a foundation (Big Pun Foundation) in his honor. The passing of this resolution is a historical event as Big Pun is the first rapper to receive this revered acknowledgement from the New York State Assembly.

This coming Thursday, February 13th at NYLA Restaurant, 52 East 41st Street, The Big Pun Foundation in collaboration with Carver Entertainment will be hosting a press reception (6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.) and an intimate celebration (9:00p.m. to 12:00 midnight) in recognition of the life and accomplishments of Big Pun".
Big Pun", who recorded on the Loud Label, brought the Latino flavor to his rap songs. Having released three albums, Capital Punishment, Yeeeah Baby, and Endangered Species, "The Capital Punisher" a/k/a "Big Pun", sold over five million albums. This lyricists extraordinaire and Grammy Nominee with his distinctive vocal style opened the doors for Latino community.
The New York State Assembly also paid tribute to Big Pun by passing a legislative resolution commemorating Big Puns" life, his musical accomplishments and the establishment of The Big Pun Foundation. This momentous resolution from the New York State Assembly was a first for the hip-hop community. Assemblyman Ruben Diaz, Jr. of the 85th District of the Bronx County (which includes Hunts Point, Soundview, Clason Point and Bronx River) stated that Big Pun" was a pioneer in music and our community continues to support initiatives that will preserve his legacy."
