Advisors International LLC Issues Report on Aviation Security
Vulnerabilities & Potential Improvements for the Air Cargo System
New Berlin, WI., USA, February 11, 2003- Advisors International LLC, a leading business development consulting firm, today announced the release a new report outlining the existing vulnerabilities and potential improvements for the global Air Cargo system. U.S. air cargo carriers transport billions of tons of cargo each year in both passenger planes and all-cargo planes. Typically, about one-half of the hulls of each passenger aircraft are filed with cargo. As a result, any vulnerability in the air cargo security system potentially threatens the entire air transport system. This new report analyzes and outlines the security vulnerabilities that have been identified in the air cargo system, the status of key recommendations that have been made since 1990 to improve air cargo security and ways in which air cargo security can be improved in the near term and long term.
The rise of global terrorism brought on by the events of September 11th has forced the air transport industry to rethink how they address many of their core security issues. In particular, the apparent vulnerabilities seen in the air cargo arena, long a low priority, has now gained new momentum.
The FAA or Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which now has responsibility for ensuring air cargo security has implemented a number of key recommendations and mandates to improve air cargo security made since 1990 by numerous governmental organizations.
This new report presents new information on not only the current and prevailing technologies used, but also seeks to address the new technologies that are being introduced in the industry to enhance air cargo security.
In the wake of the establishment of the new Homeland Security agency, ways to enhance and improve security of the various forms of cargo delivery has gained new importance. We believe the information contained in this report not only reveals how all aspects of the air cargo security systems are currently being addressed, but most importantly, what, and how is the industry addressing this issue for the present and for the future." said Eric Aparnieks, Director, Advisors International LLC.
