New Patent Confirms Leadership of MyWeather, LLC, Personalized Weather Forecast Technology

MyWeather LLC is granted broad patent protection covering its technology used to generate weather forecasts for an individual users precise geographic location.

Madison, Wisconsin, February 14, 2003 -- MyWeather LLC, a leading provider of highly localized weather forecasting, today announced that it has been granted broad patent protection covering its technology used to generate weather forecasts for an individual users precise geographic location. The new patent covers MyWeathers systems and methods for producing truly personal weather reports for home and business users. The reports include current weather conditions and forecasts and are delivered electronically to subscribers. The new patent, along with MyWeathers proprietary MicroCast forecasting technology, enables MyWeather and its media partners to create and deliver customized weather reports with unique levels of precision and sophistication. MyWeathers forecasts, storm tracking, future weather visualizations and other applications combine a high degree of forecast accuracy and time specific detail with meteorological data that is translated into natural language and graphics.

This patent establishes MyWeather LLC as the leader in precise, personalized weather forecasting, and will make our services attractive to a wide range of additional partners," said Terry Kelly, MyWeathers chairman and founder. We have already harnessed the technology for personal forecasting through exclusive partnerships with local television stations, and we have recently rolled out premium services offerings for the paid-subscription market. Partners in consumer services and mission-critical business applications have assurance that our technology is field-proven as well as patent-protected," continued Kelly.

MyWeathers Personal MicroCast service is available through station partners in over 50 US television markets. Stations re-brand it, on their local websites, as an extension of on-air weather services. MyWeathers premium services are available under a variety of brands through its own and partner website networks. Additional web-based weather products will be launched later this month.

The patent, No. 6,498,987, is titled "System and Method for Providing Personalized Weather Reports and the Like." It was issued to MyWeathers parent company, Weather Central, Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in Washington, D.C. and assigned to MyWeather, LLC.
