Burnsville, North Carolina - February 13, 2003 --- Nick Rosseter, a well-known artist from Burnsville, North Carolina, has been for the last two years perfecting a hand carved life sized statue of the Nascar legend, Dale Earnhardt.
Nick Rosseter was as horrified as the rest of the world when Dale Earnhardt was tragically killed in front of our eyes on national television. Nick's wife, Vicki, who was a hardcore fan, took the lose incredibly hard. Nick, while still in the grieving process, just did what came naturally to him. He started to carve. He searched for the perfect piece of timber and then he began to notch it with the chainsaw. He worked for up to 12 hours a day for four months until the statue began to come into focus. Nick says for him to come into work everyday and be greeted by Dale waiting for him in the corner has been a bittersweet healing process.Nick has been known around the mountains for many years as the B-Log Chainsaw Bear Carver. His work can be seen at many of the local attractions and has even received national attention on the "Regis and Kelly Show" when Nick carved an oak statue with an uncanny resemblance of Regis himself! He has been on the front page of all the local newspapers and recently had Channel WLOS-13 out for an interview.
February 18th will be the 2nd year Anniversary of Dale Earnhardt's death. This wood masterpiece that looks so realistic and that has caught such the true spirit of this modern day legend, will be put up for auction on Ebay. It has been appraised for upwards of $20,000.00 and is expected to bring even more. The statue will be available for public viewing at the NIK-N-WOOD Studio located at 82 Angel Branch Rd. in Burnsville, NC. until February 25th. It will than be moved to Mountain Traders, located on Highway 19E at the Yancey/Mitchell county line, where it will be available for public viewing until the item is sold. The statue will be featured on Ebay's Home Page or it can be viewed all around the world on the Mountain Traders Live Webcam located at www.Mountain-Traders.com.
