PILOT GROUP has launched the phase of active development of AppBuilder - wrapping software for building application programs out of number of database tables and tools for their management. AppBuilder comes as a software component, which can be called from the development environments such as Visual Basic, C++ or Delphi. Unlike other application builders, most of which work from the command line, this software will have a friendly graphic user interface.

Application builders should be accurate and fast. For performance reasons, the next version of application builder was chosen to be written in C++ and the compiled instead of using Lotus Script - the working environment of previous versions. AppBuilder can provide Lotus Script as an example of flows and API calls that need to be executed.

AppBuilder has a similar to CodeTrak interface. Users can easily read, save, create configurations (sets) and add, delete, disable databases for those sets. As the application runs, there is an output generated to the output pane. Users may opt to document some or all of databases in the configuration set. An extra option (Document Y/N) exists for each database in the set. This option is controlled via the easily accessible right-click menu in the database list or from any other area where users can interact with database run properties.

AppBuilder works with sets of databases and understands interdependencies of all scripted design elements in these databases. Independently of database inheritance settings, design elements can individually inherit design from any template. Users may select a database and its properties as the master for the output application properties. The database version and description or date of the version may be specified as well. Optionally, users may request version numbers to be included in the build number.
