     Jennifer Armstrong, daughter of Chicagos first family of folk," will be in the DC Metro area from March 6th to 13th, to share the unique brand of songs and stories borne of her rich Celtic heritage and lifetime involvement in folk arts. She will be at the Washington Ethical Society all day on March 9th, to present

1. The platform address at 11:00. Topic: The Power of Myth and Storytelling in Our Lives. (free)

2. Workshop on Lullabies and Bedtime Stories at 1:00pm. An opportunity for participants to share their lullabies and stories and learn new ones from Jennifer and others. ($16 WES members, $20 non-members)

3. FAMILY CONCERT at 6:30pm. Jennifer will delight an audience of all ages with original and traditional stories, poems, and songs, playing an astonishing array of stringed instruments and bagpipes. ($12 adults, $6 children)

     Jennifer Armstrong is a national touring artist giving performances, workshops and residencies in singing, storytelling and writing. Growing up at the knees of the likes of Pete Seeger, Joseph Campbell, and her own very talented parents, Jennifer has spent her life writing, singing, and making music which she imparts to her audience with humor, grace, and a generosity of spirit which is contagious and inspiring.
     Jennifer draws her stories and songs from a rich heritage of Celtic, Appalachian, and original works, and effortlessly accompanies herself on guitar, banjo, fiddle, dulcimer, and bagpipe, psaltry and harp.
     In 1998 Jennifer was a featured teller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN, and on Thanksgiving Day 1999, she and her daughters were interviewed by Noah Adams on All Things Considered. Jennifer has produced and performed several critically-acclaimed one-woman shows which have toured nationally. She has seven recordings of music to her credit, including CDs for children and adults. This is her fourth engagement at the Washington Ethical Society.
